Hi, My name is Lydia Prabucki. I feel so privileged to have been crowned the New York Stats High School Rodeo Queen for the 2009-2010 rodeo season. It is such an amazing opportunity for a city girl from Buffalo N.Y. to have been chosen to go to Farmington NM to represent New York State in the Queen competition at Finals. I am 17 years old, and a senior at Tapestry Charter High School in Buffalo, NY. I have been a member of the Northeast Herd 4H club in Lockport, NY for 5 years. I plan to attend college next year and will be working toward a veterinary degree. My rodeo events include Breakaway roping, Goat Tying, Barrel Racing and Pole bending, and this year I plan to start Team Roping. I have 2 horses of my own now, Mocha and Rebel, and I board them at Diamond B Stables in Pendelton, NY.
The National High School Finals Rodeo in Farmington, NM was one of the most wonderful experiences of my life. I hope to qualify for Finals again this year in ALL of my events. Going to the National Finals Rodeo is something everyone in High School Rodeo should aim for! You can’t imagine what it is like to be with 1300 other rodeo competitors for a full week until you are there. As the Queen, I had to take a written test on the NHRSA rulebook, answer an impromptu question, do modeling and a 2 minute speech (mine started with a Rap!) do a personal interview with six judges, and ride horsemanship patterns. It was a crazy, busy, HOT! Hectic, FUN week!
